Grocery prices as a whole have climbed 13% over the past year, and the cost of certain Thanksgiving staples has skyrocketed by as much as 200%.
But now one store is taking inflation off the table for the holiday.
Walmart announced Nov. 3 that it will “offer customers this year’s Thanksgiving meal at last year’s price.”
Specifically, the retail giant will sell a selection of Thanksgiving grocery items at prices that are based on what those same items cost back in November and December 2021, on average.
As Walmart describes this selection of discounted groceries:
“All the basics are there, like turkey, ham, potatoes and stuffing, but the convenience items are there too, like ready-to-heat mac and cheese or freshly made pumpkin pie, and we ensured that the price for the same basket of items does not cost more than it did last year.”
These items are available on Walmart’s Thanksgiving webpage now if you want to peruse the selection, though the retailer notes that prices may be lower at your local Walmart store.
The selection will be available at 2021 prices until Dec. 26, 2022.
