HBO Max might be one of the fastest-growing streaming video services despite its competitors steadily growing in number since HBO Max launched in 2020.
Even when streaming stalwart Netflix reported a loss of more than a million subscribers in the first half of 2022, HBO Max and HBO reported gaining subscribers. The two together had nearly 50 million subscribers in the U.S. alone as of the first quarter of 2022, and they added more in the second quarter.

How it works
HBO Max is a streaming service from HBO, both of which are part of Warner Bros. Discovery.
The streaming service gives you access to all the same programming available on the HBO channel plus exclusive originals, recently debuted Warner Bros. movies and more.
HBO Max currently offers two plans:
- With Ads: $9.99 per month, or $99.99 per year (which saves you 16%)
- Ad-Free: $14.99 per month, or $149.99 per year (which also saves 16%)
